Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled frequently asked questions about how to use WIIS, account registration, learning materials, the community, and more. If you need help, please check this page first.

Getting Started

WIIS is a learning platform that provides educational materials primarily in university-level mathematics and economics, while also enabling systematic learning through AI Tutor and the community. Our goal is to provide an environment where learners can deepen their understanding not only by reading materials, but also by asking questions, discussing topics with other learners, and participating in study and research groups.

Yes. Many of our learning materials can be viewed without registering for an account. However, some features, such as using AI Tutor, participating in the community, and downloading PDF materials, are available only to paid members.

We currently publish learning materials primarily in mathematics and economics. In mathematics, you can systematically study subjects such as logic, set theory, calculus, linear algebra, the theory of real numbers, and topology. We also plan to gradually expand our content in international politics, history, and other fields.

We recommend starting with the Learning Navigator. It suggests a learning path based on the subject you want to study and your objectives. Each subject’s main page also includes a learning roadmap designed to help you study systematically.

Yes. WIIS can be used not only on computers but also on smartphones and tablets. You can read learning materials, ask AI Tutor questions, and post in the community while you are away from your computer.

Yes. We continuously write and revise learning materials on WIIS. In addition to improving existing materials, we plan to gradually add new subjects, exercises, PDF materials, and other content.

All learning materials on WIIS, as well as the development and operation of the website, are handled by a single individual. The operator studied mathematics, economics, and related subjects at university and graduate school and has been creating and publishing educational materials. Today, in addition to writing and updating these materials, WIIS is being developed as a platform that seeks to create a “cycle of learning and research” through AI-assisted learning support and community activities.

  • Whether your credit card supports 3D Secure
  • Whether you have completed 3D Secure registration with your card issuer
  • Whether the card number, expiration date, and security code are correct

If you are still unable to register, please try another credit card or contact us through the contact form.

Premium Membership subscriptions can be managed from the Account page.

What does “Renew Subscription” mean?
This option allows you to make a payment and extend your Premium Membership before the current subscription period ends. Normally, subscriptions renew automatically, so you do not need to select this option.

What does “Do Not Automatically Renew the Next Subscription” mean?
This prevents your Premium Membership from renewing automatically when the current subscription period ends. You will retain your Premium Member benefits until the end of the current subscription period.

What does “Cancel Now” mean?
This immediately cancels your Premium Membership. The subscription will not renew, and your Premium Member benefits will end as soon as the cancellation process is completed.

To provide secure transactions, we use Stripe, an online payment service that complies with PCI DSS, the international data security standard for credit card payments.

How should I enter the expiration date?
Enter the expiration date in two-digit month/year format. For example, January 2022 should be entered as “01/22.”

What is a CVC?
A CVC, also known as a security code or CVV, is used to help prevent unauthorized use of your card. It is generally the last three digits printed in the signature area on the back of the card. For American Express cards, it is the four-digit number printed on the upper right or upper left of the front of the card.

VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Diners Club, JCB, Discover, and other supported cards can be used.

The location of the security code varies depending on your card brand. For Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Diners Club, and Discover cards, the security code is the three-digit number printed on the back of the card. If seven digits are shown, the final three digits are the security code. For American Express cards, the security code is the four-digit number printed on the front of the card.

In addition to credit cards, you can also use debit cards carrying the following brands: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Diners Club, and Discover.

Yes. Debit cards carrying the following brands can be used: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Diners Club, and Discover.

If Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a similar payment method is available on your smartphone, you can also use it to make payments on this website.

Step 1. On the Account Information page, click “Do Not Automatically Renew the Next Subscription” and follow the instructions on the next page to disable automatic renewal. Once automatic renewal is disabled, your current card information will be reset.

Step 2. Return to the Account Information page, click “Renew Subscription,” and enter the information for the new card you would like to use on the next page to complete the payment.

Even after disabling automatic renewal in Step 1, you can continue using Premium Member services until the expiration date of your current membership. When you renew your subscription in Step 2, one additional month will be added beginning from the end of your current subscription period. Therefore, you will not be charged twice for the same period.

There is no minimum subscription period. Membership is available on a monthly basis.

Yes. If you cancel your membership services but keep your user account, you can resume membership at any time using the same account. Even if you delete your account entirely, you can use the membership services again by registering a new account.

For credit card payments, a receipt can be issued by email through Stripe, our online payment platform. If you would like a receipt, please contact us through the contact form and include your WIIS username. For PayPal payments, please obtain your receipt from your PayPal dashboard.

WIIS uses Stripe as its platform for credit card payments. Stripe is a payment processing service operated by Stripe, Inc. in the United States and is used by millions of businesses in more than 120 countries. When you make a credit card payment on our website, personal information such as your credit card number is not transmitted to us. Payment processing and the management of payment information are handled by Stripe. Stripe complies with the global PCI DSS security standard.

Please check your spam folder. In some cases, users have been unable to receive our emails or automated replies because their mailbox or mail server has exceeded its storage capacity (“user is over quota”). Please delete unnecessary emails or otherwise free up space in your mailbox.

PDF materials downloaded during your paid membership period can continue to be viewed as files stored on your device. However, updated versions of PDF materials can only be downloaded while your paid membership is active.

Membership fees are used to support the continued operation of WIIS, including the creation and updating of learning materials, operation of AI services, server costs, and community management. Your support enables us to continue improving our materials and services.

Learning Materials & Study

Each subject’s main page includes a roadmap showing the recommended learning sequence. The Learning Navigator also suggests how to proceed based on what you want to study and your objectives. If you are new to a subject, we recommend following the roadmap and Learning Navigator as you study.

AI Tutor is an AI assistant that answers questions about learning and suggests how to proceed with your studies. You can use it to ask questions about the learning materials or discuss what topic you should study next, helping you learn more efficiently.

AI Tutor generates its answers primarily by referring to learning materials published on WIIS. It may supplement these materials with external information when necessary, but it is designed to provide answers that are as consistent as possible with WIIS materials.

PDF learning materials are a benefit available to paid members. Eligible PDF materials can be downloaded as many times as you like while your membership is active. When a PDF is updated, you can also download the latest version.

Click the ♡ icon on a learning material page to save it as a Favorite Material. Your saved materials are listed on the Favorite Materials page, which you can use as a personal learning library to manage materials you are currently studying or would like to review.

Please report it using the form at the bottom of the relevant learning material page. We will review your report and revise the material if necessary. Feedback from users helps us improve the quality of our learning materials.

Yes. In addition to adding new learning materials, we continuously expand and revise existing materials. Published materials are also continually improved to make them clearer and more accurate.

Yes. WIIS learning materials are designed to be viewed comfortably not only on computers but also on smartphones and tablets. Mathematical formulas are also adjusted for readability based on screen size.

As a general rule, we do not accept individual requests for the creation of specific learning materials. WIIS places importance on the overall systematic structure of its materials and their consistency with our learning roadmaps, and materials are created and published according to a long-term plan. However, we welcome reports of errors, suggestions for improvements to existing materials, and requests for additional explanations. Topics that receive similar requests from many users may also be considered when planning future materials.

No. WIIS develops and publishes materials gradually by subject, so some subjects are still works in progress. Where sufficient material has been completed, finished sections are published as they become ready. Even after publication, we continue correcting errors, adding content, and making improvements, so the materials are continually updated.

Community

In the community, you can ask questions and exchange ideas about learning materials, interact with other learners, and participate in discussions in study and research groups. One of the community’s main features is that it allows you to deepen your understanding through dialogue with other users rather than learning only by reading materials.

Yes. An account is required to post or reply in the community and to participate in study and research groups. The content you can view varies depending on the settings of each community or group.

Forums provide a place for informal discussion, such as asking questions and exchanging opinions about learning materials. Study and research groups, by contrast, are intended for ongoing discussion and research on specific topics. They provide a place where participants can deepen their discussions and share new insights and research findings.

Yes. The community includes a formula editor, so you can enter mathematical formulas without having to memorize LaTeX syntax. You can also use the live preview to check how your formulas will appear before posting.

Yes. You can edit and revise your content after posting. You can correct typos, add information, or make other changes as necessary.

Yes. Images can be attached to posts. Sharing diagrams, graphs, screenshots of calculations, and similar materials can make discussions clearer and easier to understand.

Please communicate respectfully so that all users can participate in discussions with confidence. Posts that the administrators determine to be inappropriate, including abusive content, spam, or content contrary to public order and morals, may be edited or removed without prior notice.

Posts in public groups are publicly accessible information on the internet. Content in private groups or restricted study and research groups, however, is intended to be shared among participants. Please obtain permission from the original poster or the administrators before sharing such content outside the group.

Yes. If you would like to create a study or research group on a new topic, please contact the administrators. We will consider your request after reviewing the topic, purpose, prospects for continued activity, and other relevant factors.

Points, ranks, and badges are features designed to record your learning and community activities on WIIS and support continued learning. Points are awarded for activities such as studying learning materials and participating in the community. Your rank increases as you earn points, allowing you to see the progress you have made through continued learning and participation. You can also earn badges by meeting specific conditions and display a record of your achievements on your profile.

Points, ranks, and badges are not intended to rank members against one another. They are designed to make everyday learning and community participation more enjoyable and encourage continued engagement.

WIIS supports MathJax, so you can enter mathematical formulas using LaTeX syntax.

To display a formula within a line of text (inline math), enter it as follows:
\(formula\)

To display a formula prominently on a separate line (display math), enter it as follows:

$$formula$$

Inline math appears within a line of text and is therefore suitable for short expressions and symbols. Display math appears centered on a separate line in a larger format, making it suitable for longer formulas, proofs, and calculations.

A formula editor is also available in the comment input field. You can create formulas with the editor and insert them directly into your text without entering LaTeX syntax manually. If you are not familiar with entering mathematical formulas, we recommend using the formula editor.

If entering a formula is difficult, or if you would like to quickly share a complicated diagram or calculation, you may also photograph a handwritten formula or diagram and attach it as an image. As long as the content is clearly visible, you can use the attached image as the basis for questions and discussion.

Depending on your internet connection and browser conditions, mathematical formulas may take some time to load. If reloading the page does not resolve the issue, clear your browser cache or use the latest version of your browser.

First, please make sure that the username and password you entered are correct. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by selecting “Forgot your password?” on the login page, or use the password reset page. If the problem persists, please contact us through the contact form.

Please check your spam folder. In some cases, users have been unable to receive our emails or automated replies because their mailbox or mail server has exceeded its storage capacity (“user is over quota”). Please delete unnecessary emails or otherwise free up space in your mailbox.

Posts are published after being reviewed by the administrators. This process helps prevent spam and inappropriate posts and maintains a safe and welcoming community environment. We normally review and publish posts as quickly as possible, but depending on the content and circumstances, publication may take some time.

AI Tutor’s answers may vary depending on the wording and context of your question. Making your question more specific or providing additional information about what you want to know may result in a more appropriate answer.
