Only Materials That Reach a Sufficient Level of Completion Are Published as PDFs
At WIIS, we continuously develop new educational materials and improve existing ones.
As a result, some of the materials available on the website are still works in progress, while others are expected to undergo substantial additions or revisions in the future. PDF materials are not created by simply compiling such developing content.
A subject area is edited and published as a PDF only after it meets criteria such as the following:
- The fundamental topics have been covered to a reasonable extent.
- The learning sequence has been organized from introductory to more advanced material.
- Definitions, propositions, proofs, examples, and related content have been carefully reviewed for accuracy.
- The material has been structured so that it can be read continuously as a single textbook.
For this reason, some subject areas may already have materials available on the website but not yet have a corresponding PDF version. This is not merely because PDF production has not caught up. Rather, it reflects our policy of publishing PDF materials only after the content has reached an appropriate level of completeness.
PDF Materials Continue to Be Improved After Publication
Publication does not mark the end of the development process.
Even after a PDF has been released, WIIS continues to review the material, identify areas for improvement, and revise the content over time.
Updates may include:
- Corrections of typographical errors and notation
- Additional or improved explanations
- Replacement of examples with clearer ones
- Addition of new chapters or sections
- Addition of new propositions or topics
- Addition of exercises and solutions
- Reorganization of the overall structure
Improvements made to the web-based materials are also reflected in the PDF versions when appropriate. As a result, the PDF materials themselves continue to grow and improve over time.
Web Materials and PDF Materials Serve Different Purposes
At WIIS, web materials and PDF materials are not regarded simply as the same content delivered in different formats.
The web materials function as a continuously updated knowledge base, allowing learners to search for specific topics and move easily between related materials.
The PDF materials, by contrast, are designed as structured texts that bring related topics together into a coherent whole. They are suitable for studying a subject from beginning to end, reviewing its overall structure, and learning in environments without an internet connection. They can also be saved and consulted repeatedly.
WIIS is also developing an integrated learning environment that connects:
- Web materials
- PDF materials
- AI Tutor
- Forums
Rather than treating these as separate services, we aim to make them work together as complementary learning tools. Learners can read the materials, use AI Tutor to clarify points they do not understand, and discuss questions in the forums when necessary.
Paid Members Can Continue to Access Updated Versions
PDF materials are provided as a benefit for Premium Members and Supporter Members.
During an active membership period, members can not only access the currently available PDF materials, but also download updated versions whenever revisions are released.
This means that even if you begin using a PDF at an early stage, you can continue to benefit from later improvements such as:
- Better explanations
- New chapters and sections
- Additional exercises
- Revisions to content and structure
PDF files that have already been downloaded can continue to be viewed after membership ends. However, an active membership is required to download newly released PDF materials or updated versions published after cancellation.
Membership Also Supports the Ongoing Development of WIIS Materials
At WIIS, we place great importance on continuing to improve educational materials over the long term rather than considering them finished once they are published.
Developing systematic university-level materials requires more than simply writing new content. It also requires repeatedly reviewing existing explanations, checking for errors, adding examples and exercises, and refining the overall structure.
The production and continued revision of PDF materials are one result of this ongoing work.
Premium and Supporter memberships are therefore not only a way to access completed educational materials. They also provide part of the foundation that enables WIIS to continue developing, revising, and improving its materials over time.
